Body of Purba Bahadur Gurung, who died in Broad Peak avalanche, brought to Nepal

Kathmandu. The body of mountaineer Purba Bahadur Gurung (Yukta), who died in an avalanche while climbing Pakistan's Broad Peak, has been brought to Nepal. His body, which died in an avalanche on July 14, was brought to Nepal on Thursday evening via Qatar Airways flight. Mingma David Sherpa, a business partner and representative of record-breaking climber Nirmal Purja, had gone to Pakistan for rescue and coordination after the incident. He has returned to Nepal with Yukta's body. Yukta's body will be kept at the Nepal Mountaineering Association secretariat in Naxal today for final tribute. After that, preparations are being made to cremate him at Swayambhu on Friday morning at 9 am. Gurung, a resident of Laprak, Gorkha, was the Vice-President of the Nepal Mountaineering Association Gandaki Province Committee and a member of the Manang Mountaineering School Committee. During the expedition, 6 Nepalis including record-breaking climber Nirmal Purja, Purba Bahadur Gurung 'Yukta', Kili Pemba Sherpa 'Kilu', Nima Sherpa, Nawang Thindu Sherpa, and Gyalu Sherpa, a total of 10 people died. Purja's family lives in the UK, so preparations are being made to cremate him there. The bodies of other Nepali mountaineers who died in the accident will be brought to Nepal after completing legal procedures in Pakistan.
