Our Shared Humanity Is Sole Religion

In early Shrawan or late July, we, the Nepali people, witnessed an unprecedented incident related to two religious communities - Hindu and Muslim - in the Kaptangunj area of Dewangunj, Sunsari. A simple dispute over the use of a DJ loudspeaker by some Hindu people during the early morning to begin their Bol Bam pilgrimage turned into an ugly riot. What was more painful was that the fight between Hindu and Muslim people spread to other neighbouring districts as well. They were unnecessarily involved in all sorts of destructive acts. Consequently, many public and private properties were damaged, many people were injured and until now four young boys have already lost their lives and others are undergoing treatment. This happening shattered all Nepali people who prefer to live, maintaining social harmony, peace and balance in the country.
