Astronomers Capture Highest-Resolution Image of Sun's Surface

New York. An international team of astronomers has released the highest-resolution image ever of the Sun's visible surface. This image, captured by the Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope in Hawaii, reveals small, swirling structures of plasma never seen before.

The Sun's visible surface, or photosphere, is a thin layer of its atmosphere where liquid plasma becomes transparent. This region is considered very dynamic and complex because factors like magnetic fields and convection currents shape its atmosphere.
