Kathmandu. The Supreme Court's order to review the past verdict in the Nepali Congress's official dispute has signaled a potential shift in the party's internal equations. The incumbent leadership (establishment) appears defensive after the Supreme Court decided to re-examine the validity of the committee led by Gagan Thapa, who was elected president in the special general convention held from Poush 27-30, while the faction opposing the establishment (former president Sher Bahadur Deuba and Dr. Shekhar Koirala) seems encouraged.
On Thursday, the full bench comprising Chief Justice Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and Justices Nityanand Pandey and Srikanth Poudel granted 'Nissa' (permission) for a review of the Supreme Court's joint bench decision on Chaitra 4, which had upheld the Election Commission's decision and validated the committee led by Thapa.
