Congress Chief Whip Thapa Expresses Dissatisfaction with Infrastructure Development Committee's Performance

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Chief Whip Basana Thapa has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of the Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives. Speaking at a committee meeting on Friday, Thapa pointed out that the committee meetings were not being held in sufficient numbers and that there was a need for policy reforms in the electricity sector.

In the meeting, Thapa also discussed the delays and administrative hassles in electricity expansion and transmission line construction. She argued that the existing system, which requires discussions with the Managing Director (MD) or Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of the Nepal Electricity Authority at the center even for the approval of 33 KV and 21 KV transmission lines, obstructs work.
