Congress Chief Whip Nishkal Rai Emphasizes Conflict-Free Society While Respecting Identity

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress Chief Whip Nishkal Rai has emphasized building a conflict-free society by respecting the issue of identity. Speaking at the second national conference of the Nepal Democratic Indigenous Peoples' Federation, Chief Whip Rai stated that one must be vigilant against those who try to push society towards conflict in the name of identity. Chief Whip Rai recalled the contributions of martyrs from the first martyr Lakhan Thapa to the martyrs of Ilam's Sat Khade in achieving democracy in the country. Discussing his birth in a simple farmer family in Ilam and his upbringing with the customs and cultures of various communities, he mentioned that multi-ethnic and multi-cultural unity is the beauty of Nepal. He clarified that he became a Congress member not by birth but by thought and ideology. Expressing his views on the issue of identity, he pledged that indigenous peoples would fight for their identity in every party and state body. However, he argued that while fighting for identity, one must equally respect the identity of others. He expressed concern over the recent attempts to create conflict by emotionally inciting people in the name of identity. He warned that some forces are engaged in a race to induct people into parties by showcasing history and identity, which will ultimately lead to conflict. He called on everyone to embrace the path put forward by Congress leaders, where both identity is found and conflict is resolved. 'I joined this party by looking at the historical contribution of Congress in ensuring the country's freedom and citizens' rights,' said Chief Whip Rai, 'My thoughts and ideology made me a Congress member.' He stated that those seeking respect for their own identity must also learn to respect the identity of others. 'Those seeking respect for their own identity must learn to respect the identity of others; this is the style of democracy and Congress,' he added, 'While the fundamental principles of Congress's nationalism, democracy, and socialism remain the same, there has been a significant transformation in its working style.' Discussing the internal transformation of Congress, he claimed that the party's working style has changed. He accused the government of not being sensitive to the public's suffering due to rampant inflation and the shortage of essential goods like gas in the market. Commenting that the government is busy celebrating its honeymoon instead of addressing public concerns, he urged party workers to continuously hold the government accountable through the parliament and social media.
