CPN-UML MPs Prohibited from Hiring Family Members as Personal Assistants

KATHMANDU. Members of Parliament (MPs) of the CPN (UML) will not be allowed to keep any family members as personal assistants. The criteria and procedures related to personal assistants passed by the UML parliamentary party meeting on Friday state that the personal assistants hired by MPs must be individuals other than family members. Previously, MPs hiring family members as personal assistants had been criticized by the public.

The UML has also determined the qualifications for personal assistants. The criteria stipulate that personal assistants at the officer level must have at least a bachelor's degree, and those at the under-secretary level must have a master's degree.
