Sher Bahadur Deuba's Return to Nepal Postponed to August 13

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Min Bishwakarma has said that the time of return of former president Sher Bahadur Deuba to Nepal has been changed. According to Bishwakarma, Deuba's return time has been set for 12 noon on August 13. Earlier, former spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat had said that Deuba, who was abroad for treatment, would return to Nepal on the night of August 11. Deuba had gone to Singapore from Nepal for treatment on February 13. After completing health check-ups and treatment in Singapore, he reached Hong Kong on March 23, 2024. After returning to Nepal, Deuba is scheduled to address a gathering called by the establishment- इतर group of the Nepali Congress. At a press conference held in Kathmandu on Friday, the convener of the gathering organizing committee, Dr. Shashank Koirala, had informed that Deuba would address the national gathering starting from August 14 in Kathmandu. Meanwhile, the Police Headquarters has stated that an investigation is underway regarding whether there are any legal cases or arrest warrants against him while Deuba is preparing to return home. At a press conference organized at the Police Headquarters on Friday, Police Spokesperson Abinarayan Kafle said that they are checking the records regarding whether there are any cases or arrest warrants against Deuba. When asked by journalists whether there is any basis to arrest or bring Deuba under investigation after he returns to the country, he replied, 'We are looking at the records regarding this. We will see what is there and proceed with the necessary action.'
