Gagan Thapa Addresses Supreme Court Review Order on Nepali Congress Convention

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has stated that he will take the Supreme Court's review order regarding the party's legality and special general convention in stride and face it. Addressing the central working committee meeting at the party's central office in Sanepa, Thapa said there was no need to be afraid as the party's work was done in accordance with the constitution. Thapa recalled that the special general convention of Congress was held in a constitutional manner and the Election Commission also updated it according to the law. 'Our special general convention is constitutional. The Election Commission has also deemed it lawful and has archived it,' he said. Mentioning that some individuals who were dissatisfied with the party's decision went to the Supreme Court and the court initially ruled in favor of the special general convention, Thapa said, 'Now the dissatisfied party has gone with a review petition and the court has allowed it. This is one part of the judicial process.' General Secretary Thapa stated that there should be no deviation from this step of the court, and Congress will now go to court with pride and present its evidence. He added, 'What was once proven true in court will be proven true again, we have faith in the judiciary.' He said that the trust among the party's leaders and cadres is more important than the legal battle. 'We are legally strong, but more than that, we must have faith in our colleagues (cadres). Unity and trust within the party are our greatest strengths,' Thapa said.
