Surkhet. According to the 2078 census, the population of Chaukune Rural Municipality in Western Surkhet is 26,950 and the number of households is 5,336, of which more than 90 percent of the people do not have legal land ownership certificates.
According to Amin Bhupendra Oli, who works in Chaukune Rural Municipality, this problem has existed since 2028/029 BS. Land surveys were conducted in 2042, 2055, and 2066 BS, but the commission was dissolved before distribution, leaving the problem of landless and unorganized residents unresolved.
