Former Telecom Authority Chairman Bhupendra Bhandari and 22 Others Recommended as Defendants in Smart Cell Case

Kathmandu. Regarding the Smart Cell case, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police has recommended making former Chairman of the Telecommunications Authority, Bhupendra Bhandari, and 22 others defendants. The Bureau's spokesperson, SSP Anupam Shamsher Jabra, informed that the police have completed the investigation and submitted the investigation report to the Kathmandu District Government Attorney's Office.
According to spokesperson Jabra, the opinion is to make six people, including the then Managing Director of Smart Cell, defendants. Similarly, the opinion is to make 3 purchasers of Smart Cell's equipment, 9 from Ncell, 2 from Nepal Investment Mega Bank, and 1 from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority defendants. In this case, the police had also arrested former Chairman of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority, Bhupendra Bhandari, on Shrawan 14.
