Kathmandu. Communist Party of Nepal MP Suresh Alemagar has objected, stating that some laws the government is bringing are attacking the spirit of federalism. Speaking in the National Assembly meeting on Wednesday, MP Magar said that the bill to amend the Mines and Minerals Act is trying to snatch the rights of local levels.
MP Magar recalled that the Local Self-Governance Act 2074 gave the right to manage materials like stone, gravel, sand, soil, and slate to the local levels. However, he accused that the new bill the government is bringing is reducing those rights and is playing a game to dry up the income sources of local levels. 'In a federal system, resources and rights should be distributed down to the local level, but this government is attacking federalism by reducing the rights of local levels,' he said.
