Nepathya Announces Sikkim Concert, Receives State Support

Kathmandu. Lokrock band Nepathya has announced its upcoming concert in Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, and the event has received state-level recognition. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Goley) unveiled the Nepathya t-shirt and ticket for the event organized on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day in Gangtok on Saturday. The t-shirt has been specially designed for the Sikkim concert. Earlier, Nepathya had announced the Gangtok concert on its official website for Saturday, October 31. Nepathya has performed in Sikkim three times before. The first concert was held indoors immediately after the band's comeback, while the subsequent two concerts were held in large open grounds. The second outdoor concert venue was the ground in front of St. Xavier's School in Pakyong, and the third was on the banks of Chho Jo Lake in Rabangla. As this year's concert is scheduled to be held at Paljor Stadium, the main stadium in the capital Gangtok, organizers believe this fourth visit to Sikkim will be the grandest yet. This year's Nepathya concert is being organized with the aim of advancing the energy, enthusiasm, and creativity of the youth of Sikkim, preserving culture, and promoting the beauty of the state, according to the organizer 'Positive Vibes Entertainment Network'. Tenzing Dorje, coordinator of the organizing team, expressed confidence that this concert will help promote Sikkim's music, culture, and the younger generation. 'I am grateful for the support and encouragement received from the Chief Minister,' said organizer Tenzing Dorje. 'We eagerly await the moment when we can give a grand welcome to Nepathya, an important musical group from Nepal, in Sikkim.' Nepathya has announced on its website that it will perform concerts in Sikkim, Itahari, and Kirtipur by 2026. The band will perform at the local stadium in Itahari on Wednesday, November 4. A tour of South Korea has also been finalized, and preparations for concerts in various cities in Nepal and foreign tours are in the final stages by the end of the year. 'We have been receiving a warm welcome from different generations who grew up listening to Nepathya's songs on Sikkimese radio on every tour,' said lead singer Amrit Gurung. 'The encouraging news we have been receiving about this concert for a long time has further boosted our morale.' According to Amrit, the audience from the Sikkim-Darjeeling region were the first to invite the band for a concert immediately after its formation. 'Among the regions where Nepali music is popular, the audience here is special in terms of musical consciousness,' said Kiran Krishna Shrestha of Nepalaya, who manages and promotes the band. 'We are making every effort to present an evening full of satisfaction and enjoyment.' At the concert, Amrit will be accompanied by Dhruva Lama on drums, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on madal, and Dineshraj Regmi on keyboard.
