Chaitë Paddy Production Decreases by 35% in Gorkha Due to Blast Disease

Gorkha. The production of Chaitë paddy, the main food crop of the district, has decreased by 35% this year. The production has decreased this year due to blast disease, said Vivek Poudel, agricultural extension officer at the District Agricultural Development Office.

Stating that it rained at the time of harvest last year, he informed that the incidence of blast disease in the paddy has increased because farmers used the same paddy seeds as a seed this year. He said that using quality paddy seeds would reduce the incidence of blast disease, but the problem occurred because seeds soaked in water were used.
