Kaptangunj Calls For Preventive Peace

Walking around Kaptanganj (Dewanganj-3, Sunsari) three weeks after the violent clashes, one senses a measured relief among the locals. The immediate crisis has passed, but the deep-seated fear of a relapse lingers just beneath the surface. The conflict—which erupted over a territorial marker on July 26 before spreading westward to Siraha—has claimed four lives as of this writing: Om Prakash Mehta, Jay Prakash Mehta, Ganesh Yadav, and Rabindra Kumar Mehta. Beyond these fatalities, over two dozen civilians and security personnel were injured, alongside extensive damage to public and private property.
