Investigation Committees Submit Reports on Devanaganj and Golbazar Incidents

Kathmandu. The committee formed to investigate the incidents in Devanaganj of Sunsari and Golbazar of Siraha has completed its investigation and submitted its report. The impact of the clash between the Hindu and Muslim communities on July 10 in Kaptanganj, Devanaganj Rural Municipality-3, had also spread to Madhesh Province. Three people died in the clash in Kaptanganj. Om Prakash Mehta, 30, Jay Prakash Mehta, 20, and Ravindra Mehta, 22, of Kaptanganj lost their lives due to bullet injuries in Sunsari. Ganesh Yadav, 18, died in a clash with the police during a protest in Golbazar, Siraha, on July 14. The government had formed separate committees to conduct on-site study and investigation of the incidents. Both committees submitted their reports to Home Minister Sudhan Gurung on Tuesday, said Home Ministry spokesperson (Joint Secretary) Anand Kafle to Ratopati. He said, 'Investigation reports have come from two committees, and the conclusions and recommendations within them are under study.' The committee led by Home Ministry Joint Secretary Bhupendra Thapa had investigated the Kaptanganj incident. A committee led by another Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry, Pushparaj Shahi, investigated the incident in Golbazar, Siraha, and submitted a report with recommendations.
