Running an Online Business in Nepal? Registration Is Mandatory; Unregistered Platforms May Face Action

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has directed businesses and other entities selling goods and services online to register their e-commerce platforms with the department.

The department issued the notice through its Electronic Trade and Information Technology Branch following the implementation of the Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) Act, 2081 and the Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) Directive, 2082. Under the new legal provisions, registration is mandatory for businesses to conduct e-commerce activities legally.
