Energy Minister Highlights Focus on System Improvement and Export Revenue

Kathmandu. Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has stated that solving the problems in the country's energy system and strengthening the distribution system are the main priorities of the government.
Responding to oral questions from members of parliament in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, Minister Shrestha mentioned that the ministry is serious about making domestic supply quality along with electricity export. He informed that Nepal earned 29 billion 32 million 47 lakh rupees from electricity export in the fiscal year 2082/83. He clarified that since Nepal's hydropower projects are mainly run-of-river (RoR), there is a compulsory situation of exporting surplus electricity in the rainy season and importing electricity worth 10 billion 55 million rupees in the dry season.
