The Trump administration has expanded the scope of the 'Public Charge' rule, related to individuals dependent on government benefits. Under the new system, Green Card applications of some immigrants who have received government assistance may be rejected.
According to the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the new rule will come into effect from September 18. After this, when evaluating a Green Card application, not only whether the applicant has received government assistance or not, but also their age, health, financial situation, family circumstances, and education can be taken into consideration.
