Baglung Establishes Dog Hostel to Address Stray Dog Problem

Baglung. There is a nuisance of stray and loose dogs in the alleys of the market. To solve this problem, a 'Dog Hostel' has been built in Baglung. The hostel has been operated to control the risks posed by dogs left on the streets and diseases like rabies. There are 30 dogs in the hostel located in Simle, Baglung Municipality-3. This hostel, which came into operation in Asar, houses dogs found in the streets, squares, and alleys of Baglung bazaar. Rescued sick and weak dogs are also treated at the hostel. With the help of the municipal police, the animal development branch vaccinates stray dogs and sends them to the hostel after catching them.
The hostel has the capacity to house up to 50 dogs. The municipality has assigned one employee to look after the dogs at the hostel. Dogs are usually given meat and rice in the morning. In the evening, they are given milk and rice. The hostel was built on five ropanis of land with an investment of 6.5 million rupees from the Gandaki Provincial Government and 3.5 million rupees from the municipality.
