Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Deepak Khadka has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the working style of party president Gagan Kumar Thapa. Khadka raised questions about Thapa's leadership ability and intentions, presenting the political scenario of BS 2082. He compared the successful historic leadership of BP Koirala with the unsuccessful leadership of Gagan Thapa. 'After BP Koirala became president from a special convention in BS 2014, he united the party by including everyone,' Khadka said, 'As a result, in BS 2015, Congress won 74 out of 109 seats and formed a government close to a two-thirds majority.' In stark contrast, he stated that Gagan Thapa forcibly became president through a special convention in Poush BS 2082, and the party suffered a shameful defeat. 'Although the president resigned taking responsibility for the election results, it was later withdrawn without concrete reason,' he wrote. Khadka accused the current leadership of taking positions while blaming others. He clarified that speaking sweetly is not the only quality of leadership and claimed that the party cannot run solely on social media and media. 'The party does not become strong by operating many pages on social media,' he said, 'The organization does not grow by gathering support in some media outlets and attacking those with different opinions.' He believes that a party like Congress only becomes strong through organizational strength, the trust of its workers, and the votes of the people. Expressing the view that good leadership should take everyone along, Khadka gave the example of President Sher Bahadur Deuba. He suggested that Deuba's art of including everyone, rather than just strengthening his own faction, can be learned. He mentioned that repeatedly discussing the convention is not enough, and stated that the real meaning of the convention is democracy within the organization and respect for everyone. Khadka challenged Thapa to choose one of two paths. 'I must accept my limitations by saying I cannot bring everyone together,' Khadka suggested, 'Otherwise, the party must be strengthened and united by including all factions.' He concluded that leadership is not just about getting a chair, but about fulfilling the responsibility of history.
