CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet Questions PM Balen Shah's Mustang Visit

Kathmandu. CPN-UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet has raised questions regarding Prime Minister Balen Shah 'Balen's' Mustang visit. Stating that the Prime Minister went to Lomantang without any formal information, he has demanded an answer from the government about the real objective of this. Basnet said that Prime Minister Shah's program during the visit includes going to the Lo Ghyakar Monastery and Damodar Kund in Mustang. Connecting this context, leader Basnet has recalled that a few days ago, the Public Affairs Chief of the US Embassy, Mike J. Harker, also visited monasteries in Mustang. Connecting these two incidents, he has expressed suspicion about the Prime Minister's visit.

Making his views public through the social media Facebook, Basnet has accused the government's activities of not being transparent. 'No formal program has been publicly announced,' he wrote, 'The government must provide a clear explanation about the objective and program of the Prime Minister's visit, which was not even informed to the security mechanism.'
