Kathmandu. The International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition is being observed worldwide today with various programs. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), this day is celebrated every year on August 23.
The main objective of the day is to commemorate the history of the slave trade, the suffering endured by humanity from it, and the struggles for the abolition of slavery, and to enhance public awareness against the slave trade.
