Nepal Law Commission Faces Autonomy Risk Amidst Proposed Reforms

Kathmandu. The Nepal Law Commission, established to amend Nepal's laws in line with the times, draft new laws, and study and research existing laws, is currently without leadership.
While the commission is without leadership, legal experts have stated that the amendment bill registered in the House of Representatives by the Minister of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, risks shrinking the commission's autonomy and turning it into a mere branch of the ministry.
