Supreme Court Nullifies Appointment of Nepal Airlines Corporation Chairman Maheshwarbhakta Shrestha

Kathmandu. The Supreme Court on Thursday nullified the appointment of Nepal Airlines Corporation Chairman Maheshwarbhakta Shrestha. The court issued an order stating that he will not remain in office, ruling that the appointment violated the age limit criteria and bypassed seniority.

The controversy-ridden decision at the time of appointment reached judicial review after the concerned ministry refused to correct it. With this Supreme Court verdict, the national flag carrier airline is now without leadership. While this order has increased interest in the impact on the new appointment process and the corporation's operations, it has also raised serious questions about the integrity of the ministry and Minister Khadakraj Poudel (Ganesh) who made the illegal appointment.
