MPs Demand Harshest Legal Action in Child Rape and Murder Case

Kathmandu. Lawmakers have drawn the government's serious attention to the incident of rape and murder of three-year-old girl Garima Chaudhary. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, lawmakers demanded that the perpetrators be given the harshest legal punishment.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Pramila Kumari Gachchhadar strongly objected to the agreement reached between the government and the victim's family. 'Does erecting a statue bring back the life of a 3-year-old girl?' she questioned the government, adding, 'The agreement paper may immediately stop the protest and the relief may reduce the momentary pain, but it cannot establish a sense of long-term justice and restore trust in the state.'
