Bagmati Cleanup Campaign Enters 687th Week

Kathmandu. The Bagmati Cleanup Mahabhiyan, which started with the slogan 'Two Hours of Volunteering for the Nation', has entered its 687th week. Two metric tons of garbage have been managed by cleaning the Bagmati riverbank from Sinamangal in Ward No. 9 and 31 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City to in front of Baneshwor Campus in the 687th week of cleaning. Campaigner Dr. Mala Kharel informed that the non-degradable two metric tons of garbage collected from the cleaning was managed by placing it in a truck of the Metropolitan City's Environment Department, Teku. Arrangements have been made to bury the degradable garbage on the riverbank to be used as fertilizer for the planted saplings.

Local government representatives, Bagmati cleanup campaigners, employees of the High-Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee, and local residents from the Garrygaun Baneshwor Campus Sano Phulame Pul area actively participated in the cleaning. Saplings of litchi and avocado brought by Tekraj Adhikari, a member of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, were planted on the Bagmati riverbank during the cleaning.
