Hungary's Foreign Ministry Files Criminal Complaint Over Ventilator Purchase

Kathmandu. Hungary's Foreign Ministry has filed a criminal complaint with prosecutors regarding a potential fraud in the purchase of ventilators worth approximately 965 million US dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Foreign Minister Anita Orban gave this information on Tuesday, stating that the government led by former Prime Minister Viktor Orban had purchased approximately 17,000 ventilators from China in March and April 2020. At that time, the purchase had been criticized for buying more equipment than necessary and paying a much higher price per unit compared to other European countries.
