Bagmati Province Chief Minister Secures Vote of Confidence Amidst Opposition Boycott

The Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Kiran Thapa Magar, has secured a vote of confidence from the Provincial Assembly in the absence of opposition parties. With the Speaker's position vacant, the Deputy Speaker, Apsara Chapagain, who led the session, supported Chief Minister Thapa, who received the confidence vote from 57 out of 58 attending lawmakers.
Chief Minister Thapa, who claimed the support of 25 UML, 26 CPN (Maoist Centre), and 12 RPP lawmakers, secured the confidence of 57 lawmakers, disregarding parliamentary norms. According to democratic parliamentary procedures and norms, at least one opposition member must be present for the session to be conducted. However, on Tuesday's session, the main opposition Nepali Congress (36), Naya Shakti Party Nepal (30), and Hamro Nepali Party (2) were completely absent.
