Floodwaters Reach Malekhu, Risk High in Lower Coastal Areas

Kathmandu. Floodwaters from Rasuwagadhi have reached Malekhu. The flood has washed away the water measurement center at Fukrekhola and its suspension bridge. The Flood Forecasting Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged for caution due to the high risk of flooding in the lower coastal areas.
"Around 11:50 AM, the flood from Rasuwagadhi reached Malekhu," said Sauravdhwaj Joshi, a hydrologist at the Flood Forecasting Division. "Immediately after our station at Fukrekhola measured 10.8 meters, the station and the suspension bridge were washed away by the flood." He informed that the flood is moving towards the lower coastal areas.
