Government Eases Drone and Helicopter Use for Flood Rescue Efforts

Kathmandu. The government has made special arrangements to allow drones to fly without permits and to signal helicopters through various means to facilitate and make rescue operations in flood-affected areas effective.

Information was shared by government spokesperson and Education Minister Sasmita Pokharel, making public the cabinet's decision on Wednesday, that drones can be flown without permission in six districts declared as disaster-stricken for rescue purposes. Drone operators wishing to assist in rescue can contact the government's hotline number 1234 for coordination.
