Kathmandu. Severe floods and landslides from China have caused significant damage to various road sections in Dhading, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa, including the Prithvi Highway. According to the Department of Roads, transportation services have been severely affected as stones, soil, trees, and debris washed away by the floods have accumulated on the roads. Although some roads have been opened, movement in most areas has come to a halt.
According to the latest details from the Department of Roads, the Galchhi–Mugling section of the Prithvi Highway is operational, but severe flood impact is visible around Chaunethe in the Baireni–Galchhi section. In that area, debris and mud up to 2 to 3 meters high have accumulated on approximately 13 kilometers of the road. Specifically, large stones and uprooted trees have covered the road in various parts of the 23 to 36 kilometer stretch. The Department of Roads has stopped debris removal work for tonight and will resume work early tomorrow morning.
