Opposition MP Aaren Rai Criticizes Government Decision to Remove Contract and Daily Wage Employees

Kathmandu. Opposition party Labour Culture Party MP Aaren Rai has objected to the government's decision to remove employees working on contract and daily wages. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, he said that the government should immediately reconsider this as the move to remove employees who have been working for years is against the Supreme Court's verdict. MP Rai drew the government's attention to immediately implement the Supreme Court's verdict to provide dearness allowance and social security fund to contract and daily wage employees. He claimed that the government is working to eliminate poor citizens. Speaking in the meeting, he said, 'Mr. Speaker, the government has started working to eliminate the poor by targeting them.' He accused the government of injustice towards them, whether it is about Pathao riders, squatters, laboring citizens, or small entrepreneurs and businessmen. He added, 'The current government is hatching a big conspiracy to take thousands of contract and daily wage employees, who have been working in the low service of the state for decades, through contractors.' He demanded that the state should provide facilities including dearness allowance and social security fund to such employees as per the Supreme Court's order. Instead, he claimed that the current government is engaging in policy corruption by forming companies. 'Today, thousands of categoryless employees who have served the country for 15-20 years, neither can they go abroad nor can they earn by starting a new business,' he added, 'The state must reconsider this.' MP Rai also took a stand that his party's opposition will continue as long as Prime Minister Balen Shah's anti-national statement given in parliament is not removed from the parliamentary record. He said that no matter how much the current government's anti-national activities are condemned, it is not enough.
