Flood Forecast: Major Rivers Below Alert Level, Small Rivers at Risk

Kathmandu. According to the bulletin issued by the Flood Forecasting Section under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology on Tuesday morning, the flow of major rivers in the country was below the alert level at the time of measurement this morning. There is no major risk of floods in Koshi, Narayani, Bagmati, Karnali, Mahakali and their tributaries, including Kankai, Kamala, Babai, Eastern Rapti and Western Rapti rivers. However, floods have been indicated in small rivers. The section has stated that there is a high risk of flash floods in small rivers flowing through Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavrepalanchok districts today. Similarly, the flow will increase in small rivers flowing through Taplejung, Jhapa, Dhankuta, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Udaypur, Dolakha, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Makwanpur, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Syangja, Palpa, Gulmi, Chitwan, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West and surrounding districts. The section stated that there is a medium risk of flash floods in the small rivers in these areas. There is a possibility that the flow in some small rivers in all seven provinces may suddenly increase tomorrow.
