Finance Minister Rejects Proposal to Remove Finance Secretary from Nepal Rastra Bank Board

Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle has rejected the proposal to remove the Finance Ministry's secretary from the Nepal Rastra Bank's (NRB) board of directors. Speaking on Tuesday during the clause-wise discussion on the Nepal Rastra Bank Act amendment in the Finance Committee, the Finance Minister argued that the presence of the Finance Secretary on the board is essential for coordinating fiscal policy and monetary policy.

Amidst voices from various sectors arguing against the inclusion of the Finance Secretary on the NRB board, citing interference with the central bank's autonomy, the Finance Minister defended the necessity of the secretary's presence by explaining Nepal's economic structure and conditions.
