102 Bodies Recovered from Bhote Koshi Flood Brought to Kaski

Pokhara. 102 bodies among those who lost their lives in the Bhote Koshi flood in Rasuwa have been brought to Kaski. The bodies, found in various districts including Tanahun, Nawalpur, Dhading, and Gorkha, have been kept in the morgue of Pokhara Health Science Academy. Kaski's Chief District Officer Kuman Singh Gurung stated that managing the additional bodies is difficult as Kaski has the capacity to manage only 88 bodies and some bodies were already present. Gurung said, 'Some of the currently collected bodies are not complete bodies but only body parts, and some are bodies of small children, so they have been managed so far by keeping them in small boxes. Now, management will be a problem.' Gurung added that there is no situation to immediately accept more bodies as the existing capacity is full. New bodies can only be accepted after the current bodies are gradually handed over or managed. The process for identification of the collected bodies has already started. Gurung informed that photos of the bodies will be taken and kept for identification, and they will be handed over if relatives can identify them. Furthermore, samples have been collected for DNA testing of the bodies. Bodies that cannot be identified for a long time or for which no one claims will be prepared for final rites according to the body management procedure. District Police Chief SP Navin Karki informed that the body management committee, formed under the coordination of the District Police Chief, will manage by completing the necessary procedures.
