138 Citizens Still Missing After Bhote Koshi River Flood in Rasuwa

Biratnagar. 138 citizens of Koshi Province are still missing due to the sudden flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa on August 26. According to DIG Shekhar Khanal, Chief of Koshi Province Police Office, Biratnagar, out of a total of 153 citizens from Koshi Province in the affected area, only 15 have come into contact so far. The largest number of those affected by the flood are citizens of Solukhumbu district. Out of a total of 41 from Solukhumbu, only 2 have managed to come into contact, while the condition of 39 is still unknown. Similarly, out of 21 from Okhaldhunga, 20, out of 18 from Udaypur, 15, out of 17 from Sunsari, 15, and out of 16 from Morang, all 16 are missing. Out of 12 from Jhapa, 10, out of 9 from Ilam, 7, out of 8 from Khotang, all 8, out of 5 from Taplejung, 2, 3 from Sankhuwasabha, 2 from Dhankuta, and 1 from Bhojpur are yet to come into contact. It has been reported that no citizens from Panchthar and Tehrathum districts have gone missing or been affected. According to the latest details, some citizens including 2 from Jhapa today, 1 more from Ilam, and 3 from Taplejung have come into contact. Security bodies, local administration, and stakeholders are continuing their search efforts to ascertain the condition of the other 138 missing citizens and to make the rescue operation effective.
