Kathmandu’s Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol was not simply wearing a traditional outfit at Cannes. Draped in the timeless Newah Hāku Patāsi — the iconic black sari edged in deep red — her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival felt both ancient and radically modern at the same time.
