Indonesia Volcano Eruption Disrupts Flights, Strands Thousands

Jakarta. About 270,000 passengers have been stranded in Indonesia after a volcanic eruption. More than 2,000 flights have been affected due to ash from the volcano, and airports including the capital Jakarta have suspended operations for the second consecutive day.
The Anak Krakatau volcano, about 150 kilometers from Jakarta, began to erupt on Friday night. During the eruption, lava fountains erupted from the volcano and a large amount of volcanic ash rose into the sky. Ash has reportedly reached Jakarta and Lampung provinces. Seismic activity of the volcano also continued throughout the weekend.
