Chinese President Xi Jinping Monitors Tibetan Barrier Lake and Surrounding Areas After Landslide

Kathmandu. Chinese President Xi Jinping has instructed officials to closely monitor the condition of the barrier lake (a lake formed by a landslide blocking a river) and the surrounding mountainous areas in Tibet's Kerung County.

In a meeting of senior Chinese Communist Party leaders chaired by Xi on Friday, he instructed to adopt effective measures to prevent potential second-phase disasters, paying special attention to the stability of the lake and the condition of the surrounding mountains.
