Iran and Oman Finalize Strait of Hormuz Safe Passage Agreement

Kathmandu. Iran and Oman's talks on designating a temporary route for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz have reached the final stage, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghai said on Monday.

Baghai said at a weekly press conference in Tehran that the understanding between the two countries on designating the route is likely to be registered with the International Maritime Organization in the coming days. Stating that insecurity in the waterway is a result of the 'military attack' by the US and Israel against Iran, he said, "As long as this situation continues, ships will not be able to travel through this route with a sense of trust and security."
