Bhaktapur. This morning, farmers in Bhaktapur reached their fields and worshipped frogs, feeding them rice. While most people were flocking to temples for worship on Janai Purnima today, the farmers here were seen heading to their fields early in the morning with various food items to feed the frogs.
The farmers here were seen carrying plates and winnowing fans made by imagining a mirror and arranging radish sprouts cut into circles, threaded with skewers, and shaped into somewhat long and round by hand, with rice attached. On top of that, small white rotis the size of Malpuwa, along with Kwati and various other vegetables and food items, were placed on a large leaf. The leaf was placed on a winnowing fan or plate, along with Janai Purnima threads and vermilion, and fragrant incense was lit nearby.
