Food Technology Department Destroys 4,000 Liters of Substandard Milk in Bhaktapur

Kathmandu. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has destroyed 4,000 liters of substandard milk operated in Bhaktapur. Based on a complaint received by the department, during an inspection conducted on Shrawan 15, irregularities were found at 'Jai Shambhu Dairy Industry Pvt. Ltd.' located in Liwali, Bhaktapur-8, leading to the action.

According to the department, the milk sample collected from the industry was found to be of low quality in laboratory testing. With fat at only 2.4 percent and SNF at 7.8 percent, the milk did not meet standards, and 4,000 liters were seized and destroyed in the presence of local representatives, as stated in a press release issued on Monday by Senior Food Research Officer Dr. Balkumari Sharma.
