Washington DC. America has canceled the visa of Brazil's ambassador to Washington, Maria Luisa Ribeiro Viotti. This step is seen as the latest incident in the growing diplomatic tension between the two countries before Brazil's upcoming elections.

According to a US State Department official, this decision was taken as a reciprocal step after Brazil refused to grant entry visas to two US State Department officials last month. Although the visa has been canceled, Viotti has not been expelled from the US.
