Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Tika Sangraula Demands Free Funeral Rites for Impoverished Citizens

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) MP Tika Sangraula (Jwala) has demanded that the state should arrange free funeral rites for deceased impoverished and poor citizens. Speaking during an emergency time in the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, MP Jwala drew the government's attention to an incident where a citizen, unable to afford cremation at Pashupati Aryaghat, sought help from her party's government.

MP Sangraula stated that an impoverished citizen called from Pashupati Aryaghat early this morning, pleading for help as they had no money for the cremation of their relative's body. "That call startled and saddened me for a moment," she said. "It is sad that citizens who pay taxes under various headings while alive do not receive a dignified final rite when they die."
