Maitighar Mandala: A Hub for Protests and Demands

Kathmandu. On one side of Kathmandu's Maitighar, posters, pamphlets, and banners are never absent. This has become a place to voice demands, draw the government's attention to any issue, and protest/criticize government activities.

Gen Z protests, teacher movements, meter-interest victims, microfinance victims, cooperative victims, rape victims, from landless to those with every demand – the hub is Maitighar Mandala. It's not that the government hears all the voices that come here, but many voices raised in Maitighar reach Singha Durbar. For this reason, the government comes to Maitighar to negotiate and reach agreements with protesting teachers, meter-interest victims, cooperative victims, doctors, and other victims.
