Syria and Russia Agree on Future of Russian Military Bases

Syria. Syrian government sources confirmed on Sunday that Syria has agreed on the future of two Russian bases in Russia, which Moscow used to provide military assistance to ousted leader Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian civil war.

Russia was Assad's main ally during the 13-year conflict and helped keep the former leader in power. His ouster in 2024 was a major blow to Russia's influence in the region.
