Nepal Police Prioritizes Tech-Based Investigation to Curb Online Misinformation and Fraud

Kathmandu. As incidents of fake news, misleading information, 'deepfakes', 'hate speech', and cyber fraud spreading through social media increase, Nepal Police has prioritized a technology-friendly investigation and monitoring system to control such activities.

Inspector General of Nepal Police, Dan Bahadur Karki, stated that the police are aware that the misuse of social media can disrupt goodwill among citizens and pose challenges to peace and security. According to him, the police are further strengthening their manpower and technology to control the negative activities arising from the use of social media.
