Bagmati Province Faces Project Delays Due to Budget System Flaws, Minister Tamang Outlines Reforms

Despite significant investment in development and infrastructure in Bagmati Province, projects are facing challenges of not being completed on time and remaining in a रुग्ण (moribund) state for years. Projects become रुग्ण due to a weak budget allocation system, project selection without adequate study, and a feeble monitoring mechanism.

Development projects initiated since the establishment of the provincial government in 2074 BS remain incomplete. The past practice of spreading the development budget more than necessary and selecting projects based on political influence has led to slow physical progress in the province.
