Three US Inmates Set for Execution on Same Day After 16 Years

Washington DC. For the first time in 16 years, three prisoners from three different states are scheduled to be executed on the same day in America. Three men are scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on Thursday in Tennessee, Alabama, and Oklahoma.

In Tennessee, 66-year-old Anthony Darrell Hines is to be executed for the murder of motel employee Katherine Jean Jenkins in 1985. His health condition is said to be very poor. Three months ago, an attempt to give lethal injection to Tony Caruthers in Tennessee failed because a needle could not be inserted into the vein. Lawyers for Hines have requested that the execution be stayed, citing the possibility of similar problems in Hines' case.
